An End to Terrorism?

Terrorist organizations are dedicated to one thing, violence. What will it take for Islamic fundamentalists to stop going after Western targets? Do we assess their membership to be the misfits of world society, low achievers, the lost, who given a drop of praise arms his body to kill any number of innocents, finding glory only in death? A plot by British Muslims to blow up 10 airplanes bound for the United States was foiled Thursday. Young Muslims who are enraged at what's happening to their people in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon buy into al-Qaida's rhetoric. The al-Qaida is so fractured, even if one group or leader disarms, another could continue to fight. The world would benefit from a resolve of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, an issue that has lent these criminals against society, supporters in the Arab world. The al-Qaida plays on the new recruit's emotions

Is there is no end? No one knows for sure. Not even the terrorists themselves know. The attacks on common citizens help the al-Qaida boast that they have power over our lives,  it helps them recruit members and helps promote their leadership. This cowardly attempt to change British foreign policy with regard to support of the U.S. has only served to bring our countries shoulder to shoulder and decisive in future actions to foil any and all attempt to murder our citizens.

Militant groups around the globe have proclaimed to the world their agendas. The al-Qaida's leaders have stated that they want to rid the Muslim world of any thing Western. Misguided Al-Qaida operations interpret everything as an attack on Islam. Just the mere presence of any peaceful and unarmed American citizen is considered adequate reason for committing murder.

Osama bin Laden has issued that the U.S. needs to leave Iraq and stop supporting Israel. Still other Al-Qaida want the U.S. to stop supporting President Hosni Mubara of Egypt. President Mubara is a secular leader and U.S. ally. Their stated goals go even further to eventually topple all secular Muslim leaders. The al-Qaida's instituting strict Islamic law would eventually lend one leader for all Muslims, or a caliph. Experts doubt al-Qaida leaders truly believe those goals are possible, and say they are more likely just a means to attract followers.

Home Secretary John Reid has released that "at least four major plots that could have caused a major loss of life, " have been thwarted since the 7 July attacks in London last year' and that 'the government believes the first al-Qaida plot in the UK was in 2000 in Birmingham, preceding the war in Iraq and the 9/11 attacks." Britain remains at the highest possible level of terrorist alert with a terribly inconvenient regime of restrictions imposed on the traveling public, as does many other countries. Security forces around the world are decidedly working with a give 110% effort to protect the lives and liberty of their citizens believing another terrorist attack is "highly likely,".

Comments from around the globe report that al-Qaida leadership is falling apart with each plot foiled. The world is gaining a greater knowledge of their tactics for recruiting. The day is coming when the cowards who hide, while ordering young men and women to their deaths, will be the only ones left to strap themselves with bombs. That day is awaited by the world and will be met with celebration.
